Let’s bring up and then totally disregard a few key points for a minute or two:
- Using Victoria’s Secret models and Lara Stone in the runway mix is nothing unique
- It’s probably at least part a PR stunt
- Let’s not even get into what it means that these women are “fat”/”curvy”
- Obvious issues with still being largely white/skinny
- There are still some “standard size 0” girls here
- Every problem with fashion ever
- The clothes are half ugly, half adorable
- Misc problems with dressing 50’s & oppression & blahblahblah
SO. All that aside, I thought it was really nice to see more women who looked like women (and not children — I’m basing womanhood on being, you know, over 16 or so and not on any notions of a “normal” body) and wearing clothes that looked like real women clothes for once. Would someone please fucking hurry up and filter this down, stat?
