I love the trend that’s developed over the past few years of making beautiful high-quality jewelry out of ugly, macabre, or dangerous things — nothing new, but I’ve got so many of them bookmarked that I love - after the jump:

Pamela Love is most obvious — I’m sure we’ve all seen that crazy talon cuff bracelet (above) by now. I love her raven skull necklaces and the dagger rosary below.

Surface to Air come to mind as well — while designed mostly for men, I love their weapon pendants of broken swords and scissors . Bblessing always has a ton of these in the store and they’re so awesome in person.

BittersweetsNY is one of my perennial favourites — I’ve been dying to buy their single sword earring for a while (seriously, how badass), and this gruesome anatomically-correct heart and dagger necklace is also amazing. (Also, incidentally, their adorable store is right down the street from Diner, one of my other favourite restaurants in southside w-burg.)

Bijules, aside from making those badass metal shoulderplates I posted a while back and a lot of body armor / chain jewelry, also make similar stuff, like this fly lapel pin and their snake rings with attached metal nails.

Which (were they silver or black instead) I sort of want to pair with this Gareth Pugh dress (which I tried on at Jeffrey a few days ago and almost cried since it costs like more than I make in a month and I’d have no reason to wear it ever but HOT DAMN) for my, you know, superhero/villain alter ego that claws peoples eyes out / shoots green lasers out of my fingernails while running around in steampunky studded Kirkwood/Rodarte stilettos and some crazy mysterious hooded cape or whatever.  Since I mean at heart I’m still six years old and want to, like, play dress-up everytime I go out. Real life is so boring.
