This purply-grey-brown silk skirt is one of my new favourite pieces in my closet - it’s (of all things - what’s with me and mom-brands this week?!) Jill Stuart and cost me a hefty $19 at Beacon’s Closet this past weekend. (Among other fortuitous finds: A VINTAGE YSL HIGH WAISTED WOOL SKIRT ALSO FOR $9 OMFG NO REALLY.) I admit I’m not an especially enthusiastic thrifter - I don’t have the patience for it and I’m not really a browser-shopper, more of a plan-what-I-want-and-save-for-it type - but that somehow makes successful unplanned expeditions all that more satisfying. (Especially when they’re basically free thanks to selling half my wardrobe to Beacon’s in exchange for store credit every year.)
The silk panels are of different lengths and aren’t sewn together, meaning the skirt has about six thigh-high slits and moves beautifully when I walk, and I loved how the long vest panels layered over it as well, as well as moving way from my usual black for muted, tonal neutrals. The boots were a bit of an early Christmas present and I’m betting you’re going to be seeing an awful lot of them here over the next few months.
