This is fascinating (click to enlarge) — the population in NYC at night and during weekdays. Note that very strongly some of the red bars seem to correspond to actual buildlings/blocks — the red column in Queens is almost certainly the Citibank center at Court Square, and at night, a good deal of the red bars line up with public housing/other high-rise complexes (I spy Sty Town and Peter Cooper, and the orange cluster of the whole Two Bridges area.) Besides psychological ideas about work and home (as the original post at Contexts discusses), flow of money, zoning restrictions, public transportation/commuting statistics, population density vs class, etc… so many interesting things implied here.
