this (the article blogged about above) combined with Lady Gaga’s horrifying misunderstanding of the term ‘feminism’ (kids, here’s a totally radical concept: I’m a feminist, and I’m pretty, and I like fashion, and I have a boyfriend, and I don’t hate men, I dislike a system and attitudes that are unfair to men and women alike - attitudes which Ms. Gaga reacted against directly prior to bashing feminism…) & this (oh, yes, Psychology Today did indeed publish an essay entitled “Why feminism is illogical, unnecessary, and evil.”) has my ‘F-word’ category in Googlereader (and, like, every fiber of my being) absolutely enraged this morning….
Combined with my getting catcalled no less than eight times on my way to work this morning (from the Lower East Side to Flatiron, in a conservative - and cute, ok? - mid-thigh loose black dress [had to show it off, oh god, do I blog about fashion or feminism?!] and simple 4” professional-looking pumps, oh, damnit, forgot that showing my legs ever is, like, totally asking for it since I’m 5’10” and 80% legs and thin and all so what was I expecting, and besides it’s just a compliment, my bad!)….
Perhaps we can console ourselvse with the fact (if you didn’t already know) that Yes Means Yes (the great collection of essays I’ve written about before) of course actually has a blog too, which is also worth your time.
